I have this exact problem, sager laptop NP8250/NP8255 / Model number: P157SM. I haven't tried usb keyboard yet, typing this with onscreen keyboard. I've tried all you said plus a few things from other help posts that did nothing to solve the problem.

This pretty much disables my laptop. Would greatly appreciate some help on this. Edit-usb keyboard does not work. Driver says it's okay and working properly.

Edit again-my usb keyboard web navigation keys work fine. Just not the actual keys. Yet another edit: Was online chatting with microsoft windows tech support when laptop all of the sudden shut off. No animation, no warning, just on then off. I don't know if this is related to the keyboard/driver issue but hey why not. Also, after I restarted my usb keyboard is working, but my laptop keyboard is still dead. Now that I can type a little easier I can note that in 'Devices and Printers' with my desktop highlighted it states 'Status: Needs troubleshooting' on the bottom but when I troubleshoot nothing is found/fixed.

MY SOLUTION EDIT: Okay, so, I'm now typing this on my laptops keyboard as all of my issues seem to have resolved. My keyboard issue seems to have been linked to my touchpad driver. I spent so much time trying to fix my keyboard that I didn't even bother to mess with my touchpad, which was apparently the culprit. However, just right clicking the touchpad in the device manager and trying to update drivers did not work. I had to go to my manufacturers website and download their latest driver for my touchpad and manually install it (not through device manager as it continued to insist the best driver was already installed and working).

After that, restart and everything has been working fine since. Why do i see many drivers? Below is a list of drivers that may be suitable for your device. With the different devices, they can have the same driver, it's because they all use the same chip manufacturer. How to select driver? If you are looking for an update, pickup the latest one.

If your driver isn't working, use the driver having the same OEM with the your laptop/desktop brand name.
